Residential Habilitation provides formalized training and supports up to a full day (24-hour basis) for adults with intellectual disabilities 18 years of age and older in the District of Columbia and the surrounding areas.
We offer these services and supports in a shared home of at least four (4) but not more than six (6) persons to ensure each client’s health, safety, and independence. We also assist in the acquisition and improvement of self-care and retention of skills they need to help them live independently in their homes and their communities.
These services are addressed directly to each client using the person-centered planning process and the Individualized Support Plan (ISP). We offer support and services, including but not limited to:
- Meal preparation and eating
- Personal hygiene
- Dressing
- Monitoring health and physical conditions
- Medication reminder and administration
- Communications
- Interpersonal and social skills
- Household chores
- Mobility
- Financial management
- Motor and perceptual skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Opportunities for choice-driven social, recreational, and religious activities utilizing community resources
- Appropriate and functioning adaptive equipment
