In-Home Support Services aim to provide the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities 18 years of age and older in the District of Columbia and the surrounding areas. These services include periodic support to assist and help each person to live independently and learn the basic skills of day-to-day living. We tailored these services to meet the needs and goals of each individual, help them to improve their overall quality of life and help them to participate in their communities to the fullest extent possible.
In-Home Support Services consist of a combination of hands-on care, habilitation, and assistance with activities of daily living, including:
- Assistance in performing personal care tasks.
- Training and support in activities of daily living
- Training and support to improve community integration and resources.
- Training and support to enhance management of financial, personal affairs, and awareness of health and safety precaution
- Training on, and support in the monitoring of health, nutrition, and physical condition
- Assistance in performing personal care and light housekeeping tasks specific to the needs of the person.
- Assistance with developing the skills necessary to reduce or eliminate behavioral episodes
- Implementation of a Behavioral Support Plan (BSP) or positive strategies
- Assistance with the acquisition of new skills or maintenance of existing skills
- Coordinating transportation to community events.
